TO ACTION & COMPLETE

A Draft Letter to the DFE

Dear XXXXXXXX,

We have completed a short film called VICIOUS LIFE. The Film touches on many social issues that young people are aware of living in the UK today. The most powerful message put across by the film, is the absolute devastation caused by KNIFE CRIME. We will be using the 24minute short film to bring young minds into focus, not exclusively on the action of the Knife Crime incident, but more on the aftermath particularly the destruction and ruin of those connected to the victim.

All costs for the initial 24minute long short film (VICIOUS LIFE) have been covered and we are not looking to 'sell' the film to the DFE - it is the most sincere and utmost importance young people see such a story. However, it is proposed that we make a series of follow up short films (by way of a DFE Commission) showing the effects that a single Knife Crime incident has had. At this point we think it is prudent to show the film and pedagogical trajectory.... blah blah blah (Technical stuff describing how to inculcate through didactics the best possible positive outcome. Creating a mindset change and reduce Knife Crime amongst young people).

Follow up Film Script/s

The follow up film will focus on the lives of the social circle around the main character Jace who has been murdered and the effect and devastation that the knife crime has had upon them.

This new film will be in a similar style to recreation docu-drama's that are popular on TV channels such as "Crime & Investigation" and some SKY Channels.

We will have interviews with all of the characters that were portrayed in the film as if they are 'real-life' people.

Jace and Kayley's father who was in hospital slipped into a coma.

Jace's old neighbour 'Bags' died a few days after Jace was murdered. It may of been unrelated to the killing of Jace, but we don't know.

Jace's work friend Jaleel, is angry, bitter, he didn't get to finish his anti-knife crime song as it was just too painful to make. He's become reclusive, lacks inspiration and energy to do anything, sits alone at lunch breaks.

Sasha, who Jace met and she wanted to meet again, constantly looked at the door of the Café for Jace to come walking in with his son Benjamin. It was two weeks before she heard that Jace had been murdered the night after walking her home like a proper gentleman. The Police found cctv of them and tracked her down to hear her account of the events of that night. Sasha is broken, she thought she had met Mr.Right - now she will never trust another man in her life.

Jace's half-sister Kayley couldn't cope, she turned to hard drugs, she left the family home and is living on the streets. Kayley is a wreck of a person. We see how first of all social services came around and how Kayley just absconded leaving them with young Benjamin.

Jace's son Benjamin was put into care. We see him being looked after by carers. We eventually get to talk about his father Jace, but it's heartbreaking.

We go undercover and interview members of the gang but have to keep identities anonymous as there is a continuing Police Investigation.
